At the British Imperial Museum Archive I found some pictures showing few Italian soldiers of the Regia Marina Militare with a Sheraphone, one of the most archaic sound locator. The Sheraphone is a canvas where the soldier placed his head in order to divided the sky in two mono” auditory areas. When the sound is perceived both right and left (so is stereo”), you know the sound comes exactly from that direction.
All this gave rise to the project in progress called Strumento”, in which I build objects to listen the sky, an act of pure experience.
